Focus on Mount Lavinia Hotel

A Photographic Competition and Exhibition

To conclude its 200th anniversary, the Mount Lavinia Hotel is announcing a photographic competition, open to photographers of Sri Lanka. The contest is aiming at nothing more than "the best shot" of the Hotel, capturing its two centuries of history, its romantic flair and mystery, and breathtaking settings, through the lens.

The awards awaiting the winners are breathtaking, as well: air tickets to London, Malaysia and India, gift vouchers from Kodak, Hotel holiday and weekend vouchers, and many consolation prizes.

Participation is open to established amateur and professional photographers residing in Sri Lanka. Applications will be received latest by 10th March 2007. All applicants are requested to submit a letter, stating their full name, address, contact numbers, their affiliation with photographic associations, and their background and qualifications in photography. They must submit three sample prints (max. size 6"x9") of any of their work as well.

An expert group, appointed by the Hotel, will review the applications and select a limited number of qualifying participants. They will be notified and given the necessary details to capture the best view of the Hotel, each from their own artistic and creative angle, between 13th and 25th March 2007.

A high level panel of judges, chaired by the renowned Swiss photographer Beat Presser, will review the entries and select the winners, which will be announced on 31st March 2007, during an award ceremony held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel. The best photographs will be exhibited at the Hotel during the month of April 2007.

Applications are to be submitted to the PR Office, Mount Lavinia Hotel, 100 Hotel Road, Mount Lavinia. Telephone inquiries on 011 271 5221.
