Our Lady of Sorrows. New Chetty Street, Colombo.

This lovely facade has already been spoilt by a the addition of a new porch. It could have been worse.

Well, not just worse, but disastrous!
The Church will tear this down and replace with the image on the post below.

Isn't there any protection & respect for old buildings? I guess St. Peter's in Rome might as well have a quick renovation too (yes, I know it has had many) and lets get rid of those paintings on the ceiling by Michael-someone-or-the-other as well. Picture taken on 4th December 2006.

Our Lady of Sorrows... Round two.

I wish I could join hands to save what is left. If changes mjst be made (the congregation may need more room) why not choose a good architect.

I like the big BMW in the front.

Over to the Bishop of Colombo.

The Way We Live. Nagore. South India.

Nagaipattinam, South India.

A few weeks ago, in South India. At Nagaipattinam I went back to a street I knew to try and do more work on a series of Old Houses.

The matriarch of this family knew Colombo: her husband had run a business in the Pettah many years ago.

How nice to see people confortable with time & growing old. No plastic surgery needed here thank you very much.

View from my window.

A few weeks ago I flew to Chennai. Looking down on our tiny island, filled to the brim with rain, looking so beautiful.

But then we have this passion for killing each other.

As they/we call it: Paradise, Land Like No Other, Serendipity, Taprobana, Resplendent Isle, blah blah blah...

Sad, sad, sad.
